3D Printing Technology for Process Intensification in Chemical Engineering

Principal Investigator (PI) of the Advanced Membranes & Porous Materials Laboratory at National Ilan Univsrsity, my research interests include Ceramic, Metal and Catalysts 3D Printing, Membrane Separation, and Nanoporous Materials. Our research focuses on 3D Printing Technology for Process Intensification in Chemical Engineering. The primary 3D printing technology we develop is of the slurry-based vat photopolymerization type, and the particle materials we use include alumina, zirconia, titanium dioxide, copper, stainless steel, and various nano-catalysts. In terms of applications, we use ceramic 3D printing technology to prepare alumina ultrafiltration membranes (with pore sizes around 50 nm), which represent the latest in ceramic separation membrane fabrication technology, as shown in included Figure. We have also developed 3D printing technology for alumina substrates with hierarchical porous structures that serve as catalyst carriers and are applied in the photodegradation of organic pollutants in water.[1] Furthermore, we have developed scalable production of 3D printed photocatalytic reactors with Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures, which effectively promote the progression of novel catalysts from development to industrial application.[2] We welcome those interested in the innovative applications of 3D printing technology to contact us and explore collaboration opportunities.
