2023 YCN Student's Evening
The 2023 Student’s Evening was organised by YCN, with the support of the JECS Trust, during the XVIII ECerS Conference on Tuesday 4th July 2023 at 20:00 at Ninkasi Gerland, Lyon, France.
This event was the opportunity for the 250 Young Ceramist researchers registered, that were, Master and PhD students including early stage PhDs to meet new friends, extend the network and to listen to the presentation of Moritz Weiss and David Menne from Fast Cast Ceramics GmbH, entitled “How to start-up. From research and product idea to … ?”.
After that, the winner of the 2023 YCN Workshop, Katelyn Kirchner from the Pennsylvania State University - USA, presented again her winning talk “Beyond the Average: The Criticality of Spatial and Temporal Fluctuations in Oxide Glasses”.
Finally, the YCN Committee announced the 3 winners of the 2023 YCN Photo Contest:
- The 1st place was awarded to Ana Castellanos Aliaga from Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio, Spain, for her micrograph “Along the shore of the peptide sea”;
- The 2nd place was awarded to Amousa Nima from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, for his picture “Mxene Dragon Head”;
- The 3rd place was awarded to Camila Ribeiro from University of Aveiro, Portugal, for her micrograph “When materials mirror nature”.

20 JECS Trust grants available to attend the CERAMIC AM SUMMIT!
The Ceramic AM Summit will be organised by DKG from 30th June to 2nd July 2025 at WISTA Eventcenter in Berlin, Germany.
Next Deadline to apply to the JECS Trust is 31st May 2025
Please note that the decisions of the JECS Trust board will not be known before end of July 2025. Activities submitted for the deadline of 31st May 2025 for support from the JECS Trust should then not begin before August 2025.
