My journey in ceramics began during my Master's studies in Optics and Precision Mechanics at Ferhat Abbas Setif 1 University, where I joined the Advanced Ceramics Team within the Emerging Materials Research Unit. Since 2013, I have been developing advanced and composite ceramics using local Algerian materials, with a dual focus: mastering ceramic production from natural clays, and engineering high-performance ceramics for industrial applications.
A pivotal moment in my career was one year research internship at the prestigious MATEIS laboratory (INSA Lyon, France) in 2015-2016, under the Algerian PNE scholarship program. This experience deeply enriched my doctoral research, which I completed in 2022, focusing on the elaboration and characterization of structural ceramics for faucet mixers. By optimizing the microstructural, mechanical, and tribological properties of mullite-alumina composites, through the addition of aluminum hydroxide to local kaolin, I contributed to developing sustainable alternatives to imported alumina-based materials.
Currently, as an associate professor at the Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (Setif 1), and researcher at Emerging Materials Research Unit, I continue to explore kaolin alumina composites and local clay valorization for advanced ceramics and tiles. My work involves the full cycle of ceramic processing, from powder preparation to advanced characterization. My expertise spans ceramic processing, mechanical testing (flexure, indentation, fatigue), and microstructural characterization (SEM-EDS, XRD, AFM….). I am equally passionate about teaching and supervision, guiding Master's students in materials science and sharing my expertise through courses on ceramic technologies.
My engagement with the international ceramics community has grown through presentations at conferences such as ECerS CIEC (Lyon, 2016). These experiences reinforced my belief in the power of scientific exchange and collaborative innovation.
As the YCN Representative for Algeria, I aim to strengthen connections among young ceramic scientists across North Africa and the Mediterranean, promote the visibility of research based on local resources, and facilitate opportunities for mobility, training, and joint projects. I am committed to supporting early-career researchers in navigating challenges specific to our region while contributing to global advancements in ceramic science.
If you would like to discuss collaborations, share opportunities (PhD positions, workshops, conferences), or simply connect with the Algerian ceramics community, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to building bridges and growing together within the YCN network!

Turning Waste into Raw Materials for the Ceramic Industry.
Waste materials were once seen as a burden but are increasingly being redefined as valuable resources for ceramic production. Through advances in materials engineering, waste can be used as secondary raw materials in the ceramic industry. This shift enables more circular and resource-efficient ceramic manufacturing systems.

Implementing 3D-Printed Technical Ceramics in Regulated Medical Fields.
Bringing a new manufacturing technology into medicine requires far more than producing an impressive component. In highly regulated fields, innovation must be translated into repeatable processes, documented quality, reliable materials and, ultimately, evidence of clinical value. Lithoz has spent more than a decade building this bridge for Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM).
