Report on the Electroceramics XIX Conference and Summer School

The 2024 edition of the Electroceramics XIX Conference and Summer School was organized  by ECerS and the Vilnius University in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 19th to 22nd August 2024.

The biennial Electroceramics conference series was established in the late 1980s and represents one of the central international platforms for academic and industrial researchers to discuss and share the recent developments, discoveries, and emerging trends in the field of electroceramic materials and applications.

The conference covered the recent advancements in piezoelectrics, ferroelectrics, thermoelectrics, multiferroics, varistors, ion&mixed ionic-electronic conductors, and caloric materials for energy storage and conversion, actuators, sensors, transducers, communication, and other related applications.   

Some numbers about the conference:

  • 151 participants from 28 countries
  • 69 oral presentations presented on 2 parallel sessions
  • 49 posters presentations
  • 21 Invited speakers and 3 plenary speakers: Prof. Mari-Ann Einarsrud, Prof. Harry L. Tuller, Prof. Hana Uršič.

Prior to the Electroceramics XIX Conference, a Summer School on "Advanced characterisation on Electroceramics" was organised on 17th and 18th August at the Campus of Vilnius University.

It  was a great opportunity to learn more about Electroceramics but also to exchange ideas with colleagues and lecturers taking part in the School.

To facilitate the participation of young researchers, 10 travel grants of up to 500 € were sponsored by the JECS Trust for young researchers, members of ECerS, attending both the summer school and conference.
