Report on yCAM 2023
The 2023 edition of the young Ceramists Additive Manufacturing Forum (yCAM) was organized by ECerS at Montanuniversität in Leoben, Austria, from 30th August till 1st September 2023.
yCAM is a symposium and a forum on Additive Manufacturing of Ceramics dedicated to young scientists and is an initiative of Europe Makes Ceramics (EMC), the Additive Manufacturing network of ECerS. Everyone interested in AM who is a student, young researcher or young professional was welcome to join the event. yCAM 2023 was a place for open discussion, combining high-quality scientific presentations with a fresh and informal discussion at all levels, from learning the basics of new technologies to sharing practical experiences.
The main topics of the 2023 forum were:
- Material Jetting, Binder Jetting and Powder Bed Fusion
- Material extrusion with inks and pastes
- Mechanical testing
- Vat photopolymerization
- Material extrusion with ceramic filaments
- Emerging, hybrid and multimaterial
- Space
As usual, a brief introduction of the different technologies presented was provided by the session chairs at the beginning of each session.
Some numbers about yCAM 2023:
- There were 81 participants attending coming from 14 countries.
- 33 oral presentations were given.
- Two posters session were held with a total of 29 posters presented.
To facilitate the participation of young researchers, 17 travel grants of up to 300 € were sponsored by the JECS Trust. Priority was given to oral presentations and the abstract evaluation.
