Exceptional facilities :
- Lucideon manages and hosts The AMRICC Centre, a pilot-scale development facility that focuses on the advanced ceramics manufacturing process. It serves as a Centre of Excellence for the development of advanced ceramic technologies. The capabilities range from:
- Modelling & Design - Accelerating material discovery through machine learning
- Raw Materials Processing – Milling; mixing; spray drying
- Forming – Ceramic AM; tape casting; gel casting; hot pressing
- Drying & Sintering – In air and inert atmosphere; up to 3000 C; polymer impregnation pyrolysis capabilities, Flash Sintering
- Characterisation – Thermo & mechanical testing capabilities
- Working from TRL 1-6, combining the extensive know-how from Lucideon and The AMRICC Centre facilities, this provides an opportunity for accelerating the commercialisation of innovative and disruptive advanced ceramic materials and process technologies.
Financial support programmes :
Regional fundings: The MICG Consortium was awarded an £18.3m Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) grant in October 2021 from UKRI (UK Research & Innovation), a non-departmental public body sponsored by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The funding was to finance a 5-year commercialisation programme for advanced ceramics as well as establish The AMRICC Centre. Lucideon manages the SIPF programme on behalf of the MICG Consortium and also hosts and manages The AMRICC Centre at its site in Stone in the UK.
