Research topics :

  • Highly transparent ceramic materials
Preparation of transparent ceramics. The examples of our current products include: yttrium aluminium garnet, yttria and spinel ceramics with various dopings (rare earth ions or transition metals, depending on the applications), grain sizes (from submicronic to tens of micrometers) and transparency level prepared by hot-pressing, spark plasma sintering and vacuum sintering. We also offer transparent composite ceramics produced by tape casting.
  • Oxide nanopowder synthesis by sol-gel method and solid phase
The examples of our current products include: yttrium aluminum garnet, yttrium aluminum monoclinic, yttrium aluminum perovskite, yttrium aluminum borate, gadolinium gallium garnet, yttria with various dopings (rare earth ions or transition metals, depending on the applications).

  • Bulk and porous ceramic materials
Activity of Department is focused on manufacturing and characterization of ceramics (Al2O3, ZrO2) using powder metallurgy techniques having unique mechanical properties. Special attention is devoted to the understanding of the relationship between microstructure and properties of ceramics and thus understanding mechanisms responsible for observed materials strengthening. Additionally processing of porous ceramic preforms is developed.
